A Visible Witness. . .
Holy Cross Lutheran Church is a caring community
seeking to communicate the Gospel message of grace and hope in Jesus Christ.
Holy Cross is a place where people are welcomed and encouraged to share
their gifts; where people show genuine interest and respect for each other
as they seek to live out the Gospel.
Worship. . .
Holy Cross hosts a variety of worship opportunities
every Sunday morning. We offer a traditional, but spirited liturgy out
of the Lutheran Book of Worship. We also offer services with a contemporary
and uplifting flair using Now The Feast and Celebration by
Marty Haugen. The sermon is conversational and engaging. It is designed
to comfort and to challenge the people of God as they seek to live out
the Gospel in daily life. A time of fellowship and light refreshment is
offered between worship services. Holy Cross also provides special worship
opportunities during Advent, Lent and Holy Week. (top)
Youth. . .
Holy Cross provides a variety of opportunities
for young people to participate in the life of the community of the church
and learn about what it means to be a baptized member of the wider community
of God. Children and teenagers are loved and valued at Holy Cross.

Adult Fellowship. . .
Holy Cross understands itself as a community of
believers. As part of that community are opportunities to learn more about
one another and share in each others lives. Over the course of a
typical year, members may participate in groups that sample the local
cuisine, spend an evening at Ravinia, play softball in a local league,
attend the Tuesday morning mens breakfast, or participate in Bible
studies or various other small groups.

Service. . .
Holy Cross takes seriously the call to serve as
people respond to others in need within the church and the larger community.
The opportunities to serve others in congregational service vary from
teaching Sunday School; being a youth group leader; being a worship participant
for weekly Sunday services, also serving on a church committee to call
prospective members to weeding the summer flower planters. Members of
Holy Cross also participate in local community programs from Habitat for
Humanity to food pantries (C.O.O.L.) to serving the homeless through PADS.
Finally, members of Holy Cross serve the world wide community through
ELCA sponsored programs such as The World Hunger Appeal. (top)
Fine Arts. . .
Holy Cross appreciates fine art and seeks to enrich
the lives of its members through opportunities for creation or simply
in the appreciation of its fine arts ministry. The fine arts ministry
at Holy Cross includes special music, an adult choir, childrens
tone chime choir, dramatic presentations and the annual Around The
Cross concert series.
The concert series inaugural season was 1998-99. Holy Cross offers
six to eight concerts each year. The music ranges from classical, jazz,
Latin, opera, and contemporary Christian. The concert season begins in
October and runs through April.
