Around The Cross Concert Series Banner.jpg

Holy Cross enjoys the fine arts of music, drama, media, and visuals. We recognize the ways they enhance our communal gatherings. The Around The Cross Concert Series has been suspended since March 2020 due to the pandemic. We have missed the opportunities to come together and celebrate the gifts of a variety of artists. Holy Cross will be offering a new concert season beginning in October 2022. The season will be a celebration of various genres of music and style.

Winter Concert

Saturday, February 4, 2023

7:30 pm

Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Sanctuary

Free admission. Registration is not required.

The members of Chicagoland Voices are excited and grateful to have the opportunity to perform for a third time at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

This year's winter concert contains a wide variety of choral music sure to appeal to all ages. Pieces include Franz Biebl's setting of Ava Maria, highly regarded as the G.O.A.T. in settings of this text. We will perform three excerpts from Mozart's Requiem including the stirring "Lacrymosa". "When We Love", a beautiful piece by Elaine Hagenberg, composed to Charles Anthony Silvestri's poem of the same name, will be a debut . Mark Hayes' recent release "Joy!", set in his signature 12/8 time, will be another debut. A moving, heartfelt recent offering from young composer Zachary J. Moore entitled, "I Won't Forget" will be performed, if we can hold back our tears!

These plus a Christmas carol, uptempo spirituals, and many more are sure to make for an uplifting and memorable experience that will be the talk of the congregation at church on Sunday morning. Don't miss it!
